Our Future Problem Solvers have been hard at work using their creativity and problem solving skills. The students have just completed the first half of the year where they have focused on using the six step approach to problem solving, taking one step at a time as related to the current topic. Keep up the great work!!!
GLOW THE NIGHT AWAY - 2023 Daddy Daughter NEON Dance
Thank you to our amazing district office for delivering the staff pies today!
Here are some pictures of Pizza with a Pilot in Mrs. Baker’s 5th grade classroom from this past Thursday. Mr. Baker, a captain at United Airlines and former F16 pilot, spoke to the students about what it's like to be a pilot. He also taught them a little bit about aerodynamics. The students were then able to test out their own paper airplanes to see aerodynamics in action!
This week, the students designed their own bridges using only 2 pieces of paper. Then they had to test their bridges with weight and see how many fish counters their bridge could hold before sagging. This activity required them to collaborate with their partner and find ways to improve their bridges so that the design could withhold the weight of more and more counters. They had a blast doing this and really did an amazing job improving their bridges by becoming engineers! - 3rd Grade Mrs. Vavalle

Please take a few minutes and complete the survey by clicking the following link. THANK YOU! ~ Mrs. Smith https://survey.5-essentials.org/illinois/?target_name=parent
In Mrs. In Vavalle's Science class, we have been studying weather. We closed out our unit on weather by reading "Cloudy with Chance of Meatballs" with novel effect. Afterwards students were to answer the following prompt: "What would happen if it rained your favorite food? Draw a picture, then write a caption." They had an absolute blast doing this!!
This is how Mrs. G keeps the 5th graders entertained during lunchtime! Who will win the Rock, Paper, Scissors Championship next?!?!
