The students in Mrs. Vavalle's math class has been working hard on the multiplication fact mastery for quite some time now and were in need of having a SNOWBALL FIGHT! Students had to find the product on their snowball crumple them up and wait for Mrs. Vavalle to announce "snowball fight" before throwing their snowball and retrieving another one. If they happened to find a "yellow" snowball they had to do 15 jumping jacks. We had a blast at our indoor snowball fight and can't wait to do it again!!
Exciting news! Today marks the start of our Kid's Heart Challenge! Join us as we embark on a journey to promote heart health, fitness, and compassion among our students. Let's lace up our sneakers, move, and make a difference together. Stay tuned for updates.
After learning what clouds were made of, the students in Mrs. Vavalle's class constructed three types of clouds (Cumulus, Stratus, and Cirrus), and saw how these types of clouds were different. We had a great and sticky time building our clouds!
Last week, the students in Mrs. Vavalle's class did a whole-class gas trap experiment to figure out what clouds are made of. We observed and discussed what clouds possibly be made of. We discovered that clouds appear when there is too much water vapor for the air to hold. The water vapor (gas) then condenses to form tiny water droplets (liquid), and it is the water that makes the cloud visible. These droplets are so small that they stay suspended in the air.
2nd grade had Ms. Morrison and Mrs. Marshall as their mystery readers for the past two weeks. Both teachers shared stories with the 2nd graders by their favorite authors.
On Friday, we had fun learning about shield and cone-shaped volcanos. We discovered which ones have thick or thin lava. - Mrs. Rietschel's 4th Grade Class
Last week, students have been learning words that we associate with winter and the month of January. Students *Buddied Up* and learned how to use the verb "gustar", and worked to translate a simple story about winter sports. It was wonderful to see them use what they are learning in a conversation, as well as to find the meaning of a simple text in Spanish.
