Good afternoon, As you are most likely aware, we experienced a gas leak at RGS this afternoon. When the smell of gas was reported we immediately moved into our evacuation plan while we waited for Nicor to address the situation. Once we were informed that repair would be ongoing, we made the decision to move the students to the middle school where we could feed the children who did not have lunch due to the evacuation. Staff and students did an excellent job of following the evacuation plan and I am happy to report that all of our school community was kept safe. The repairs will be completed by this evening and we will have school tomorrow. I want to thank our parents and guardians for their patience and understanding as our staff worked to ensure the safety of all our students. Sincerely, Michelle Smith Principal Richmond Grade School
